[AZ 86]

Current route: JCT AZ 85 at Why to JCT I-19 in Tucson
Length: 118 mi
Historic route: Lordsburg, NM to Why

The eastern leg of AZ 86 was replaced by I-10.

Along with AZ 84, AZ 86 cut off loops of US 80 to make a shorter route from Las Cruces, NM to San Diego, CA.

Why got its name from the Y intersection that used to exist at AZ 85 and AZ 86. The intersection is now a T intersection.

When Business Loop I-19 (former US 89) was decertified in 2003, AZ 86 was cut back from it to I-19.
