Current route: JCT I-17 to JCT AZ 89A at Sedona

This is part of an older road running from Sedona to Camp Verde. When AZ 79 (and later I-17) was constructed, only the section west of the new road was upgraded. You can still see a few old culverts off to the side of AZ 179 from the original alignment.

The WPA guide shows an AZ 179 running from AZ 79 (now AZ 89A) through Prescott Valley to AZ 69. The Benchmark atlas shows it as Fain Road. It's a gravel Yavapi County road, and doesn't have any state markings.
